The incumbent is responsible administratively to the Administrative Officer of the Training Centre and technically to the Senior Vocational Training Instructor.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
A. Administrative Work:
·    Supervises the use and maintenance of computer lab and equipment; maintains security and proper care of lab equipment including opening and closing facilities;
·    Maintains a current inventory of resources and their use; establishes and monitors a schedule for the use of the lab and equipment;
·    Maintains logs, records and files; prepares reports and performs general office duties such as typing and filing;
·    Works with Field Information and Communications Technology Office and Principals of Training Centre to help insure compliance with computer software copyright laws and policies.
B. Computer Maintenance:
·    Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains new software and operating systems;
·    Unpacks, connects, installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains additional hardware including cards, boards and memory or upgrade chips, when allowed by warranty;
·    Performs minor repair of computers and computer networks in the Training Centre computer laboratories and other computers used by Training Centre staff, when allowed by warranty; arranges for delivery to concerned party for major repairs or replacement; replaces toner cartridges when appropriate;
·    Diagnoses computer problems to determine cause of malfunction;
·    Cleans computers on a scheduled basis as directed by the Senior Vocational Training Instructor;
C. Support:
·   Assists Technical Instructor (Computer) in solving problems with the use of hardware and software on various software application packages during lecture time;
·   Assists administration staff in solving problems with the use of hardware and on various software application packages;
D. Other Duties:
·   Assists in recommending new equipment and software purchases; consults on the acquisition of software and hardware;
·   Develops small scale software for instruction or administration use;
·   Keeps abreast of emerging technologies;
E. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
·   A university degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, electronics or other related discipline;
·   Four years experience in a network environment with various computer hardware and software, installation and maintenance;
·   Supervisory and end user services experience preferably as Computer Technician.
·   Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
Competencies:

Desirable Qualifications:

The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Field ICT Services Officer (Fields) as applicable.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Acts as a member of the ICT Service Desk team and provides first level ICT support services to end-users, in accordance with established standards, policies and operating procedures, including;

o   Fulfilling end-user requests for ICT services, including access to application systems and computer or mobile resources;

o   Identifying and resolving/escalating reported incidents related to computer hardware and software, mobile devices and other technology related tools and products, access issues, connectivity, telephony, video conferencing and software operational problems; analyzing issues and incidents, identifying systemic problems and recommending appropriate solutions, and contributing to ICT knowledge management system

o   Identifying and resolving/escalating reported applications systems functional and/or operational issues and problems in coordination with the second level support teams;

o   Maintaining and updating standard Service Desk information management system, including status of all assigned service requests and incidents;

o   Providing general information and advice to end-user queries on ICT products and services at UNRWA, potential access, usage policies, acquisition, upgrade and replacement of standard ICT hardware, software or mobile equipment;

o   Collecting and analyzing feedback from end-users and making recommendations to the appropriate internal team;

o   Conducting ongoing end-user training needs assessment with substantive contribution to the development of end-users training materials.



·         Receives and installs new or updates existing end-user ICT hardware, mobile devices and software, including operating system and anti-virus software, in accordance with established standards; prepares and maintains an up-to-date inventory of installed devices and software licenses; liaises with maintenance and service vendors to install and service end-user computer hardware, mobile devices and provision of minor ICT equipment;

·         Provides formal and on-the-job training on the use of computing services and facilities, devices, tools, wireless connectivity, mobiles devices and standard software packages;

·         Prepares and supports requested ICT services for various internal and external meetings, including necessary Internet, Wi-Fi, teleconferencing, video conferencing, desktop, printing and video/audio projection services.; provides daily video conferencing connectivity and troubleshooting services;

·         Performs such other duties as may be assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:

·         A university degree in computer science, information technology, electrical or computer engineering or other related discipline.

·         Three years' ICT Service or Help Desk experience providing user support and training in a network computer environment;

·         Work experience with Microsoft Windows based desktop technology and Microsoft Office software suite.

·         Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

The main responsibilities include:
 Providing leadership for the Monitoring, Research and EMIS Unit and setting the strategic

Conditions of service
Option One: Fixed Term Appointment, Grade 18
Monthly basic salary JD 1,176.60. Plus special occupation allowance of 69.90% of the
basic salary. Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary
paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency
allowance (if applicable).
Option Two: Limited Duration Contract (LDC- Band H)
Monthly basic salary starting from JD 2,175.50 depending on the professional knowledge and
experience. Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave prerated to the duration of the contract where less than one year, and family allowance (if applicable).
To qualify for this position, you will need:
Education Advanced university degree (Master or equivalent) from an accredited
educational institution in a relevant area; a first-level university degree in
combination with three additional years of qualifying experience may be
accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree;

experience
At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in a relevant
educational institution at senior level of which a minimum of four years
should be in research and development at a senior education level;
