The main responsibilities include:
 Establishing and monitoring the implementation and maintenance of accounting control
procedures;
 Ensuring that accounting records between UNRWA and PFS are duly matched and
recorded on a monthly basis including settlement of balances;
 Reconciling accounts in preparation of year-end closings;
 Preparing monthly accounting statements and generating the year-end accounts
for the Provident fund and ensuring that they are accurate and produced in a
timely manner;
 Preparing analyses of statements, reporting and ensuring allocation of Income of
the Fund between the PF members;
 Validating the calculation of monthly interest rates based on the investment
portfolio of all fund managers accounts (actual loss or profit), in addition to all
other fees and expenses accrued to PF accounts;
 Checking the calculated monthly cumulative investment assets and liabilities for
the main and conservative funds, including monthly interest rate positions;
 Ensuring the safe custody of Provident Fund assets;
 Compiling reports periodically to management on Fund activities and other related
issues;
 Ensuring that the necessary books of account, annual financial statements and
auditor’s report are drafted in accordance with appropriate, International Financial
Reporting Standards;
 Ensuring policy and operational adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards
(IFRS) by raising the necessary journal vouchers in accordance with IFRS accounting
standards to ensure the overall quality and accuracy of accounting information, including
the Provident Fund trial balance and other accounting reports; maintaining close contact
with accounting regulatory bodies to ensure the best utilization of this information for the
benefit of the Provident Fund;
 Drafting summaries and schedules for distribution at PFC and IAC meetings reviewing the
reconciliation reports of the asset value reported by the investment manager and the
asset value reported by the global custodian;
 Preparing financial analysis and reports related to the above functions; updating report
regularly and in line with new techniques and financial principles; reviewing and analyzing
the reported figures. Executing and advising on the controls embedded in the Financial
Control process;
 Assisting in preparing periodic educational materials, bulletins and leaflets on
developments and trends in investments, for the main and conservative fund; assisting in
conducting training seminars for the local staff in investment principles and terminology
used and in Provident Fund’s structure and investments;
 Analyzing accounting methods related to investments processes, recommending
improvements and implementing system changes. Ensuring that the fund’s assets are
invested in such a way that the optimum returns are achieved subject to an acceptable
level of risk, may recommend modifications to management's investment policy;
 Developing and maintaining good working relationships with other departments, HRD, ERP
and other critical departments to ensure they respond promptly and accurately to
enquiries;
 Liaising with Audit and Inspection Department and the UN Board of Auditors on matters
related to the Fund; coordinating Provident Fund replies to internal and external auditors.

Education A university degree from an accredited educational institution in finance,
accounting, or administration with specialization in accounting, auditing
or other related fields;
Work
experience
At least six years of progressively responsible experience in investment,
accounting, compliance or auditing combined with system development
experience using personal computers;
Language(s) Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

The main responsibilities include:
 Reconciling on monthly basis Payroll transferred amounts from HR module to Provident
Fund chart of accounts and assisting in issuing Checks. Ensuing that off cycle and normal
cycle monthly payroll transactions are entered in PF chart of account. Conducting a
monthly Accounts reconciliation to match UNRWA main fund members account in respect
of continuing participants credits, voluntary contributions and humanitarian repayable
withdrawals, and preparing the necessary adjusting accounting vouchers; assuming a
leading role in ensuring that the PFS monthly accounts are fully correct and closed in
accordance with the finance monthly closure of accounts; ensuring that the monthly
accounts are in full compliance to International Financial Reporting System (IFRS); being
responsible for the PFS monthly cash balance, in accordance with the set procedures;
 Examining the PF Fund Manager payments and its supporting documents; verifying
documents authenticity and accuracy based on the applicable financial rules and
regulations; preparing accounting vouchers in REACH;
 Preparing monthly PF investment accounts closure, preparing the necessary journal
vouchers for accrued Management fees, accrued income/ loss for investments, investment
managers’ actual gain/loss, commission paid by fund managers cash and cash equivalent
transactions, conservative fund monthly transactions to match custodian monthly assets
concise report;
 Assisting Accounting & Reporting Officer in reconciling accounts between Provident Fund
and UNRWA on a monthly basis; reporting discrepancies to the Chief Provident Fund
Secretariat; reviewing the reconciliation reports of the asset value reported by the
investment manager and the asset value reported by the global custodian;
 Assisting supervisor’s in coordinating meetings, preparing minutes and/or summaries of
meetings and undertaking and monitoring follow-up actions, when required;
 Maintaining and updating files, registering and other records of relevance; entering and
following-up on transactions to/from Fields and Headquarters;
 Coordinating, liaising and assisting in preparing meetings and conferences of the
Provident Fund Committee (PFC) and Investment Analysis Committee (IAC);
 Preparing drafts of administrative correspondence for the PFS and arranging travel for PFS
staff, including travel management, preparation of briefing folders, and providing long
distance administrative support;
 Ensuring that closure of monthly accounting tasks is conducted by the beginning of the
third week of the month and PFS accounts receivable balance matches UNRWA finance
department balance after making the necessary adjustments.
Conditions of service
Limited Duration Contract (LDC- Band E)
Monthly basic salary starting from JD 816.50 depending on the professional knowledge and
experience. Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave prorated to the duration of the contract where less than one year, and family allowance (if
applicable).
To qualify for this position, you will need:
Education A university degree from an accredited educational institution in
accountancy, business administration or any other related field;
Work
experience
At least three years of experience in accounting, finance or administrative
work;
Language(s) Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
