If you are passionate about making a lasting difference for Palestine refugees, in this role you
will be responsible to the Deputy Chief of Accounts.
The main responsibilities include:
 Managing, in close coordination with the supervisor, the interim and final audit by UN Board
of Auditors (UNBoA), including engagement with department/field directors, preparation of
plan, entrance and exit meetings with the management team, communication including:
collecting, interpreting and disseminating of audit requests, observations and
recommendations; developing and leading the functioning of Agency-wide mechanism for
data collection and consolidation to oversee and control the collection, review, consolidation
and submission of responses from department/field directors after due verification and
quality control in coordination with the department directors;
 Preparing list and summary of outstanding audit recommendations including prior years,
coordinating replies from all stakeholders including field/department directors, drafting
responses to queries for final submission and providing reporting of status on periodical
basis to Director/Deputy Director of Finance as required;
 Being responsible for preparing memos, notes, reports, analysis, and responses on behalf of
Finance Department and talking points to UNRWA senior management on audit and
verification issues; ensuring compliance on all matters including legal response and
documentation;
 Acting as a focal point for the Agency in coordinating verification missions across the Fields;
providing technical leadership at strategic and operational levels in support of the missions,
with a particular focus on planning and leading interactions and coordination of UNRWA
activities and information with multiple levels; including understanding the terms and
reference of the verification, providing guidance to External Relations and Communications
Department (ERCD) and Field leads on verification queries, review of responses,
coordination of responses with Field, Legal Affairs (DLA) and ERCD Departments and
following up on post verification actions;
 Acting as the focal point in Finance Department for the Department of Internal Oversight
Services (DIOS) audits, Advisory Committee of Internal Oversight (ACIO) visiting and
coordinating other inspections including planning the timing of audits, coordinating collection
of data within Finance department and submission to the relevant bodies;
 Coordinating necessary logistics and support in the conduct of the UNBoA audit and
providing guidance to fields on specific field audits and verification until the closure of the
audit, facilitating and leading meetings and working sessions to a varied audience, ranging
from executives to team members and promoting a collaborative team approach across
functions and organization levels to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the
activities, including kick-off presentation at the beginning of the audit, presentation of
recommendations at the end of the audit;
 Assessing approach of internal audits and verifications for consistency with the techniques
and standards of the profession and audit best practices, as well as applicable Accounting
Standards, Financial Regulations and Instructions of the Agency; ensuring the findings are in
line with the terms of references agreed with the mission and the audit/verification;
identifying issues and trends and making recommendations to improve the Agency’s
timeliness and quality of data provided in response of audit and verification missions.
Additional information
The incumbent may be required to travel in the Agency’s area of operations.
Conditions of service
Option One: Fixed Term Appointment, Grade 17
Monthly basic salary JD 1086.60 Plus special occupation allowance of 69.90% of the
basic salary. Other benefits include monthly Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary
paid by the Agency), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and dependency
allowance (if applicable).

Option Two: Limited Duration Contract (LDC- Band G)
Monthly basic salary starting from JD 1440.40 depending on the professional knowledge and
experience. Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave prorated to the duration of the contract where less than one year, and family allowance (if applicable).
To qualify for this position, you will need:
Education Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited
educational institution in audit, accounting, finance, public or business
administration, or any other related field; a first-level university degree
in combination with three additional years of qualifying experience may
be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree;
Work
experience
At least seven years of progressively responsible and relevant experience,
including at least two years in an audit firm, in the area of auditing,
accounting, computer-based financial systems, or related work.
Language(s) Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
Desirable qualifications:
 Membership of an officially recognized professional accounting body;
 Working experience with either IPSAS or IFRS.
